TO ALL MY LITERATE GRADE 9 STUDENTS...

Before anything else, let me wish you and your families an ADVANCE MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2010...!

Now...down to business...! I have a number of HOLIDAY HOMEWORK/ASSIGNMENTS for you to work on given the 16 days you are going to "miss" seeing me and/or “miss” being in my class.

FIRST…you have the entire break to re-read and understand the story THE BIRDS by Daphne du Maurier, in case you have not done so yet. On an A4/F12/DS/TNR, do the Creative Writing part (Who’s In Charge?) on page 78 of your text…!

SECOND…you should start picking out which scene from ROMEO & JULIET you intend to take and perform. You can only use the following scenes from the following Acts…which means, if it is not listed here, you cannot use it! ACT ONE: Scenes 1-2-3-4-5/ ACT TWO: Scenes 2 & 4/ ACT THREE: Scenes 1-2-3-5/ ACT FOUR: Scenes 1 & 5/ ACT FIVE: Scene 5. REMEMBER that the number of members in your group should correspond with the number of characters in the scene you chose. Choice of scenes will be on a first-come first-serve basis---post your group’s choice scene here immediately and the names of your members. Start memorizing, planning, and working on your scenes as soon as I give you the approval. I am going to ask for an update from every group on what you have already accomplished by the time we get back to school in January. Make sure to take note of the workers and the slackers in your group for peer rating purposes…!

THIRD…We will begin discussing your next class novel immediately after discussion of The Birds. Then we go to Poison, then Of Mice And Men sometime before the Chinese New Year Break. Make sure to start reading and understanding these stories little by little so that you will not have to do it all last minute again…!

FOURTH…on an A4/F12/DS/TNR, write me an essay on how your Christmas Break was…try to be as honest as possible in relating the events that transpired during your holidays…if it was boring, then write about it…if it was fun, then tell me what made it fun. This one you will not be able to do until after the New Year, so I suppose you’ll have to leave it for last…!

FIFTH…you will be presenting your LOTF Society Project on Monday (Green Day Group) and Tuesday (Blue Day Group)---I HOPE YOU ARE ALL READY FOR IT…!

LASTLY…you will be having your Literary Terms Test as soon as we get back from the holidays…numbers 51-100 of the list…STUDY…!

That’s All Folks! Have a Safe and Wonderful Christmas Holidays and come back refreshed and ready to Rock-N-Roll for the Second Semester. Be good and get all your homework/assignments out of the way as soon as possible so that you can enjoy your break to the max…CIAO!!!

THIS BLOG WILL SELF DESTRUCT ON SATURDAY EVENING...

TO ALL MY LITERATURE 9 STUDES...

Here's your blog to respond to...

"Choose one of the characters from your current class novel and compare and constast your similarities and differences with the so-called character. It does not matter if you choose a major character or a minor character, as long as you have at least two things you can compare and contrast with to yourself. "

You have until Saturday evening before I close this blog so think very well. I was supposed to have you post your responses here but I changed my mind...I would now like you to please type up your responses on an A4/F12/DS/TNR and turn it in to me first thing Monday morning as soon as we get back to school. Have a great break people...CIAO!!!

TO ALL MY LITERATURE 9 STUDES...

GREETINGS!

I have a number of QUARTER BREAK HOMEWORK/ASSIGNMENTS for you to work on given the 9 days you are going to "miss" seeing me and/or “miss” being in my class.

FIRST…you have the entire Quarter Break to read, review (if you’ve read it before!), and take notes in your notebook on your next class novel…I am going to check your notes on theme, plot, conflicts, and characters as soon as we return from the break…!

SECOND…on an A4/F12/DS/TNR, write me a short Comparison and Contrast paragraph between the LOTF Original Version of the movie and the LOTF Novel Version. It does not have to be very detailed, as long as you can give three to five points of differences between the two in paragraph form then that is okay…!

THIRD…read and understand The BIRDS (pp. 50-75) and make sure to take notes on it for discussion purposes. Answer Reading Check, Shaping Interpretations, Extending the Text, and Challenging the Text on page 77 (NB). Two classes have already done some of this but not all of it when I was out sick…!

FOURTH…prepare for another Literary Terms Test and a Vocabulary Terms Test as soon as we get back from the break. Be aware that the Literary Terms Test is going to be the first 50 words again…!

FIFTH…on Friday, 23 October 2009, I am going to post a blog for you to respond to. You will have the whole day of Friday and the whole day of Saturday, 24 October 2009, to post your responses. I am going to close that blog on the evening of Saturday between 7:00PM to 11:59PM…!

That’s All Folks! Have a Safe & Wonderful Quarter Break and come back refreshed and ready to Rock-N-Roll for the second part of the semester. Be good and get all your homework/assignments out of the way as soon as possible so that you can enjoy your break to the max…CIAO!!!

PLEASE BE REMINDED...

TO ALL INCOMING LITERATURE 9 STUDENTS...

I am only going to say this once...please understand well so I do not have to tell you again face to face...I guarantee you won't like that!

STOP TRYING TO BE CUTE AND NICEY-NICEY WHEN YOU SEE ME AROUND...it's just so fake and hypocritical and I hate it! First of all, it is not going to help your grades in my class nor will it help me get to like you more. I despise pretentious individuals so stop being artificial with me. Such actions make me loathe people more...! Make sure to inform your classmates about this please...and remember this for the rest of the year. Thank you and see you next week...CIAO!!!
